Term 4 Meeting
The Bookshop Advantage: Schools and Independent Bookshops Working Together
Join the SLANSW Non-Teaching School Library Staff SIG for an informal online meeting with other library professionals. This session will explore how school libraries can make meaningful connections with independent bookshops. The session will also focus on best sellers for 2025, and predicted book trends for 2026.
Our guest speaker is Robert J Fox, Kids Manager at Better Read Than Dead. For over two decades Better Read Than Dead bookshop has thrived in the heart of Newtown's King Street, which houses a vibrant community and offers one of the most eclectic shopping experiences in Sydney. The shop is a literary landmark that nourishes the neighbourhood's intellectual dynamics with a specially curated collection of books. The staff's collective decades of bookselling experience, diverse tastes and deep love of reading means that they are able to provide customers with a unique range of titles.
There will also be time in the session to share what we have been working on in our libraries this year, and the plans we are already contemplating for 2026.
This session will be held on Wednesday 19 November between 2 - 3pm in the SLANSW Zoom Room. PLEASE note the start time of 2pm.
You must register to ensure you are sent the Zoom login details within 24hours before your session.
