Face-to-Face Networking for SLANSW Members
Term 3 Meeting: Thursday 19th
September at 4.30pm
The next Networking SIG meeting with be held at Loreto Kirribilli, on September 19, between 4:30 – 5:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other like-minded library staff and SLANSW members.
At this Networking SIG event we will continue our Professional Learning and Reading Club.
Once you have registered these two articles will be shared for us to read and discuss at the meeting. The articles are:
- Navigating Generative AI: The Teacher Librarian's Role in Cultivating Ethical and Critical Practices by Kay Oddone, Kasey Garrison & Krystal Gagen-Spriggs (Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association, 2024)
- Becoming AI Ready: A Collaborative Journey for Teachers and School Library Staff by Kay Oddone (ACCESS, September 2024)
Monique North, Head Teacher Librarian at Loreto Kirribilli will lead a collaborative review of these articles and share the strategies that she is currently using to guide the school community in ethically using generative AI tools.
Opportunities for networking, afternoon tea, and an informal tour of the Loreto Kirribilli Philomena Heaton Senior Library including the newly genrefied Fiction collection ( and reconfigured 800’s section), will also be available.
As a SLANSW member you are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to add 2 hours (pre-reading & participation) to your accrual of 100 hours of professional development.
This SIG is a platform to support members and encourage ongoing dialogue in our professional learning community. It is also only available to SLANSW members as a benefit of membership.
Afternoon Tea will be provided.
