Term 4 Meeting:  Wednesday 27th

November at 7.30pm

Alex Wharton is an experienced teacher across primary and secondary grades and across the public and independent sectors. He has been a Head of English, school principal, and currently is an English teacher at Gunnedah High School. Alex’s achievements and awards are too many to mention, but include a NSW Premier’s Teaching Award and a Reading Australia research scholarship (with a focus on teaching Indigenous literature). He is currently a Literary Judge for the CBCA and the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. He is also a PhD candidate at Western Sydney University; his research focusing on supporting media literacy practices in regional New South Wales, with a vision for fostering “digitally flourishing” families. Alex is a passionate advocate for school libraries and a good friend of SLANSW. Be inspired by his research journey and literary experiences at our final Research SIG meeting for 2024 on Wednesday 27th November from 7.30–8.30 pm.
